[Economics] Price of a gallon of gasoline in April will cost around $11,167

A new increase close to 400 pesos will have the value of a gallon of gasoline in the country, while the cost of the Acpm will remain stable by order of the government of President Petro. As of this Saturday, April 1, the National Government will reduce the value of the gasoline subsidy seeking to reduce the deficit of the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC).

In a press release from the Ministry of Finance, it is highlighted that the national government continues with a policy of stabilizing the Acpm price and, therefore, the entry to the fossil producer of this fuel stabilized by the FEPC was slightly reduced so as not to impact the price of Acpm given the increase in biodiesel.

The government explains that, for April of this year, the retail price of regular gasoline in the different cities of the country, except in Pasto and the rest of the department of Nariño, will be located at an average of $11,167 per gallon.

Meanwhile, the retail price of Acpm in the different cities of the country will not have any adjustment, remaining at $9,065 per gallon, the government explained.

The press release maintains that the increase in the price of regular gasoline aims to reduce the fiscal impact of the FEPC on the national government due to the dynamics of international prices of refined products, which have increased due to international factors such as the price of oil and the level of global risk that affected the exchange rate (dollar) in the country.

The government explains in the press report that, including the increase in the price of regular gasoline, Colombia continues to have one of the cheapest gasoline and diesel prices in Latin America due to the operation of the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC), which has mitigated the inflationary pressure of the increases in the prices of oil and its derivatives in recent months.
